Hunting in Argentina at Los Ombues Lodge
Experience the fabulous bird hunting of Argentina with Dan and Lori Michels on a hosted trip to Argentina's finest bird hunting lodge. As of December 1, 2005 two more spaces remain Activities: Waterfowl hunting, upland bird hunting, dove hunting, horseback riding, fishing. Location: Los Ombues Lodge, Entre Rios Province, Argentina, 350 miles NW of Buenos Aires Dates: April 30 - May 04, 2006 Details: We have reserved the entire Los Ombues Lodge for Dan and Lori Michels and our friends. The maximum number of guns at the lodge will be limited to twelve. Singles are welcome, as we will be encouraging everyone to mix in the blinds from day to day and meals are taken at a common table. Rooming is normally double-occupancy so singles should inquire with the lodge as to potential rooming arrangements. Los Ombues Lodge is an Orvis Endorsed International Destination. It is a beautiful lodge with all modern conveniences, located in a remote, secluded country setting. The marsh and shooting areas can be seen from the dining room windows while we enjoy excellent Argentine food and wine. The Los Ombues Lodge is operated by Carlos Sanchez and his brother
Juan Pablo. They are exceptional hosts with years of hunting and fishing
outfitter experience. The service, coordination and hospitality, as
well as the hunting, are extraordinary. Our previous trips to Los Ombues, in May of 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005 were exceptional experiences in every respect. The bird hunting is awe-inspiring. We will hunt several species of puddle duck indigenous to South America from marsh blinds, all exotic and beautiful birds not seen in the northern hemisphere. Hunting is done over decoys. Guides do the calling and retrieving and the action is fast and furious. We will hunt fast-flying upland bird called perdiz behind pointing dogs. The lodge has a kennel with about 15 pointers. High volume dove shooting is also available, and one has the opportunity
to make a gun hot shooting at them. Thousands appear on a typical afternoon
hunt. The Argentines are a friendly people and their country is enchanting. For an American, it is like stepping back in time. For those who do not hunt, there are numerous other activities available at the lodge such as warm water fishing and horseback riding. The Southern Hemisphere latitude of Entre Rios Province mirrors that
of Georgia in the Northern Hemisphere, so the climate is mild.
